What Is LVT?
LVT stands for Luxury Vinyl Tile. It's a multi-layered flooring product that replicates the look of natural materials like wood and stone with remarkable accuracy. LVT is 100% waterproof, incredibly durable and one of the most versatile flooring options available.
How Is LVT Made?
LVT is constructed from multiple layers: a backing layer for stability, a core layer (often SPC or WPC), a high-resolution photographic design layer, and a clear wear layer on top for protection. The result is a flooring product that looks and feels remarkably like natural wood or stone.
Advantages of LVT
100% waterproof — ideal for kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms. Highly scratch and dent resistant. Warm and comfortable underfoot. Easy to clean and maintain. Available in hundreds of realistic designs. Compatible with underfloor heating. Typically lasts 20-30 years.
LVT vs Laminate
LVT is waterproof (laminate is only water-resistant), quieter, and generally more durable. Laminate can be slightly cheaper. Both offer excellent realism — the choice often depends on room use and budget.
Installation Methods
LVT comes in three main fitting types: click-lock (floating), glue-down, and loose-lay. Click-lock is the most popular for domestic use as it's quick to install and can be laid over most existing hard floors.
